Recipe calls for cooking pasta in sauce until al dente, what to do with fresh pasta?

I have a recipe for french onion pasta that calls for cooking down onions and deglazing the pot with beef broth, then adding the pasta and adding the rest of the ingredients once the pasta is al dente. However I only have fresh pasta which cooks in 2-3 minutes which won't give the broth enough time to cook down. Could I make the sauce as the recipe calls for sans pasta, wait for the sauce to get to a good consistency , then add it after?
